World Geography
Geography is the science that studies the lands the features the inhabitants and the phenomena of the Earth.
The word geography adopted in the 2nd century BC by the Greek scholar Eratosthenes.
· The term geography was first coined by a Greek scholar Eratosthenes.
· The word geography carries basically two Greek terms i.e. ‘geo’ (meaning earth) and ‘graphos’ (meaning description), and the meaning of geography is ‘description of the earth.’
Branch of Geography
Geography is divided into two main branches
Physical Geography and Human Geography
Biogeography is the third branch, which is an interface between physical geography and human geography.
Human Geography
It is a branch of the geography that studies the world its people, communities and cultures with an emphasis on relations of land across space and place.
